Self Care For Mums
September 23, 2015
Becoming a mum for the first time, second time or sixth is a big deal!
A change in your body, relationship and family dynamics. Your time is divided which means you have less time to yourself.
We are definitely hard on ourselves as mothers. We never quite feel like we have done a good enough job and we don't feel like we have enough time to do everything. We don't give ourselves enough credit or enough self-care!
Being a Mum is the best job in the world!! I can't imagine not having children, not seeing their sweet smiles in the morning and giving them their last kiss at night. I wouldn't change it for the world but on the same time if I don't start taking care of myself I may not be able to keep on going as I am! I don't want to crash and burn...

Mum to two beautiful babes, entrepreneur to my third baby Natural Newborn Photography and slave to Netflix has split my time. I don't really do anything for myself. I get my nails painted when I have a event to go to, I don't go out on girls nights and I don't go shopping with girl friends. These are the things that the movies would have you believe is "taking care of yourself."
Being a introverted/shy person I don't feel like going out with girl friends to a loud, large, group setting. I end up coming home feeling unheard, un-seen and feeling like an outsider. I don't think that you need to spend time with others and go over the top to provide self-care for yourself.
So I thought what can I do to provide self care for ME?!?
And thought and thought and thought... then googled it lol
I can't believe I had to google "self-care ideas for mums" to come up with ideas to look after myself!
Anyway, here are some ideas I came up with...
Plan a date night
Paint something (ps. I lOOOVE chalk paint)
Sit in the sun with a coffee
Call my Nan
Cook something yummy from my Mum's cookbook
Eat a little chocolate
Get creative/inspired with Pinterest
Go for a walk with the babies
Wash my hair
Invite my bestie over for a movie-girls-night-in
Listen to my baby's first laughs and newborn cries
Blog something (ok, here it is!)
Have a super long, hot shower
Talk to a friend on the phone
Plan a holiday
What are you doing for SELF care?
Em xx
